UQ Testing

Need another Three Reporters

SRAA is having research undertaken in conjunction with UQ to do a neurological assessment of high-speed shorthand writing. At least six more tests need to be done to achieve authentication, so any experienced machine shorthand writer who could be available for assessment at UQ in Brisbane, please contact me - Sue Mendra - at szq@optusnet.com.au or leave a message on 02 9279 2882. It is not a test; it is an assessment of how your brain functions to produce shorthand. No preparation is needed beforehand. It takes the best part of a day. Only 2 reporters can use the lab for assessment at a time.

Testing due to begin in April has had to be postponed until during the week of 9.10, 11 and 12 June. Thanks to Annie, Leah, and Mal for hanging in there, and Bonnie and Annemarie who thought they would be available but had to withdraw.

VET/matriculation - machine shorthand in high schools
SRAA will be utilising some of the UQ research that will produce an aptitude test to assist in recruitment, which is why the UQ testing is so important to maintaining deadlines. SRAA special thanks go to Nick and Connie Stefano of Right Touch for their outstanding support for the good cause of keeping reporting skills alive. Thanks also to Trevor Fowler for his assistance.
SRAA Secretary/Treasurer
Polly Templeton, who has been absolutely marvellous in keeping our accounts straight and keeping the SRAA Management Committee in line, has indicated that she would like to put aside her Secretary/Treasurer duties, which is understandable given that Polly's dance card is absolutely full. The position will be declared vacant at the AGM in Palm Cove, Cairns, in August, and applications are invited with appointment taking effect after the AGM. The emolument is 'in kind' - we absolutely love you to bits for doing it!
