1998 - Bob WORSLEY (South Australia) Hall of Fame Award

Bob Worsley

Bob Worsley joined the New South Wales State Court Reporting Branch as a court reporter in 1954, reporting all tribunals from the District Court through to the New South Wales Court of Appeal.

In 1975 he took up employment with the Commonwealth Reporting Service, transferring to Adelaide and reporting all Federal tribunals up to and including the High Court of Australia.

During his time at the Commonwealth Reporting Service he was appointed Training Officer which entailed, among other things, compiling and then conducting courses on topics such as word processing through to producing transcripts, covering Medical and Legal Terminology, and leading information sessions on each tribunal covered.

Bob was five times the winner of the Sir James Pitman Challenge Shield with speeds of 220, 230, 240 and 250wpm, and the Australasian record of 260wm.  He was twice awarded the gold medal of the Commercial Education Society of Australia since 1959.

He has performed duties in his role as a Justice of the Peace in and for the State of New South Wales.

For many years Bob compiled and recorded high-speed examination rates for the Commercial Education Society of Australia and accreditation rates for SRAA.

Bob has competed in lawn bowling.

Bob Worsley is a life member of the SRAA.

2009 Hall of Fame and Distinguished Services Award recipients

In 2009 Lesley Dankbaar, Errol Carter and Trevor Fowler were awarded the Hall of Fame Award.

Kath Jones and Polly Templeton were awared the Distinguished Services Award.

Details will be posted to the Hall of Fame when available.

SRAA will be utilising some of the UQ research that will produce an aptitude test to assist in recruitment, which is why the UQ testing is so important to maintaining deadlines.
